Surprise inspection of Chowki Choura Sub Division conducted

JAMMU, Aug 5: Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Virender Gupta and Tehsildar Chowki Choura Dr Raman Jandyal conducted surprise inspection of Chowki Choura market alongwith Revenue Team as well as officials of Legal Metrology, Labour Department, Food Safety and Drugs Control Organization, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department and Police Department.
During inspection, all the shops of the area were visited and certain products were found unfit for human consumption. The expired consumables were destroyed on the spot and the offenders were challaned.
During market visit, a cordial interaction was held with a group of pilgrims from Punjab travelling on motorbikes for pilgrimage to Shiv Khori and Shri Buddha Amarnath ji shrines. The group was assured of all assistance by the local administration.
Thereafter, the SDM escorted by Nodal Officer (for illegal Mining)/Tehsildar Chowki Choura, acting swiftly on a tip-off intercepted a tractor trolley belonging to Waryam Singh, Contractor, loading sand illegally from Bhandraal Khurd Nallah/Khad.
The District Mining Officer Jammu was immediately sounded to take cognizance into the matter viz blacklisting the concerned contractor, who is a habitual offender, engrossed in various other illegal activities.
On way-back to Chowki Choura, the SDM conducted surprise inspection of various Government institutions viz Government Sale Depot, Government Middle School, Bhandraal Khurd to ensure smooth supply of essential commodities as well as ensuring punctuality of Government officials, provision of healthy mid-day meals to young pupils.
To inspect the progress of ongoing work of Sunghal-Bhambla Tunnel at Rameen Makhiyan of Chowki Choura Sub Division, a visit to the tunnel was made by the SDM and his Tehsildar.
During interaction with the Engineers of M/s CSC Company, it was revealed that about 29 meters of excavation has been completed. This tunnel of 2.79 kilometer length, after completion, shall shorten a length of 12.5 kilometers thereby saving a time gap of more than 30 minutes, by passing the zigzag stretch and will ensure safe journey for the persons thronging towards Rajouri and Poonch Districts.
