Surprise checks by Drug Control officials

JAMMU, May 6: In order to ensure strict compliance of the provisions of law related to the Drug Laws, Inspectorate staff of Drugs & Food Control Organisation  carried out surprise inspections of various retail and wholesale establishments in Jammu & Samba. During the drive inspections of several retail & wholesale firms were carried out and 32 statutory drug samples were lifted & sent to Government Drug Testing Laboratories for analysis The Operations of following firms were suspended by Licensing Authority, Jammu and Samba for a period of  two days as both the firms had not maintained their sales records properly :
They included M/s  Arushi Medicate, Satwari,Jammu and   M/s Guru Medicos, Bari Brahmana, Samba.
Moreover, show cause notices have been served to M/S Satguru Medicos, Jarath,Samba & M/s Dadool Healthcare Jarath,Samba for violating conditions of licenses viz not maintaining sales records, absence of Qaulified persons etc. This was stated in an official handout issued here today.
It said the Licensing Authority has also issued Improvement Notice to M/s Triveni Medicos, Gandhi Nagar, M/s Medicare Chemist, Gandhi Nagar, M/s Modern Chemists, Satwari : M/s Shivalik Medicos, Inside Swami Vivekanand Hospital, Amphalla for necessary compliance i.e to remove deficiencies pointed out by the inspectorate staff within 15 days positively.
Premises of M/s Allied Hospital Traders, Bahu Plaza was also inspected to check the products of Micro Labs, Bangalore w.r.t composition of drugs and their pricing .A detailed investigation in the matter is being carried out to verify the varsities of statements submitted by the firm.
