Surgical eye camp at Command Hospital concludes

UDHAMPUR, Apr 2: The surgical eye camp at Command Hospital Udhampur concluded today with a valedictory ceremony, which was graced by Lt Gen H J S Sachdev, SM COS, Northern Command.
The camp was in consonance with the ‘VISION 2020’ program of Government of India fulfilling the ‘Right to Sight for all’ and was conceptualized to provide advanced state-of-the-art tertiary medical care to civilians at their doorsteps under the Operation Sadbhavana program.
A total of 58 eye cases ranging from individuals of seven to 81 years were operated in the Department of Opthalmology with modern state of the art equipment. An overwhelming response was noted amongst the patients and their attendants. The cases were selected in medical camp held at Sudhmahadev on November 24, 2013 where expert OPD services encompassing consultation, refraction and dispensing of medicines and corrective glasses were also carried out. All cases were successful and gained good visual recovery.
During his interaction with the patients, Lt Gen HJS Sachdev, SM, assured the civilian that the Armed Forces will continue to reach out to them and help in their cause of health and well being.
Maj Gen MK Unni, MG (Med) Northern Command who was also present on the occasion, promised that medical outreach programs in the entire Command will continue to provide the much needed succor to all in this Command Zone.
The Commandant of the hospital Maj Gen Bipin Puri, praised the efforts and professionalism exhibited by his team of doctors.
