BALASORE (ODISHA): India today successfully conducted the maiden test of a short range and quick reaction, surface to air missile, from Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur in Balasore district.
ITR Director Binay Kumar Das said the indigenously built missile test fired from a canister from the LC-III at about 1244 hours. The homegrown missile was tested for the first time to evaluate the performance of canister version as well as its propulsion, said Mr Das.
The newly developed missile is having a range of about 20 km. Defence Research Development Organsiation (DRDO) had conducted the Israeli made quick range surface to air missile, SPYDER from the same base last month. (AGENCIES)
