It is not pleasant to imagine onself live so long that one is reduced to a wrinkled stammering figure with a hunch back who is constantly at others mercy. Life is charming when the period of youth shines over us. These days moral values have deteriorated grossly in our society. It would have been still better earlier with the joint family system in place when children would share their rooms with their grand parents and their needs would be met by all of the family. Now with changing mindset family support is not given either. With the tremendous increase in the price index it is difficult for the senior citizens to take care of all the expenses and requirements at that stage of life. There are some unforeseen exigencies too among oldies where huge expenditure is needed to meet that. In the present time are constantly at the mercy of Govt. Although old age homes are working a lot in the service of oldies but much more needs to be done in this direction. Our Govt should leave no stone unturned in financing these institutions for the noble cause of old people.
