JAMMU, Dec 19: Minister for Medical Education R S Chib today said that the Super Speciality Hospital (SSH) at Jammu coming up at a cost of Rs 135 crore will be commissioned shortly.
This was stated by the Minister while chairing a high power review meeting convened to finalize the arrangements regarding commissioning of the hospital today.
Threadbare discussion was held in the meeting ranging from medical equipments, civil work, manpower issues, service support etc. to enable commissioning of the hospital at the earliest.
It was informed in the meeting that the SSH is being taken up under the Prime Minister’s Swasthy Surakhsha Yojna (PMSSY) at the cost of Rs 135 crore out of which Rs 102.75 crore have been incurred by the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) till ending March,2012 out of which Rs 27.88 crore has been utilized by the Hindustan Liver Limited for purchase of medical equipments. Most of the equipments have been installed and the work on the installation of Integrated Modular Operation Theatre is in progress which will be completed soon. Procurement of additional R.O machine and dialysis machine is in process by these agencies.
Under PMSSY 15 super speciality faculties are being created at Government Medical College, Jammu. However, initially 6 super speciality facilities including Neurology, Urology and Cardiology will be taken up in the SSH.
The meeting was informed that for the convenience of the people multi storied parking facilities will be created within the premises of the hospital in phased manner.
The Minister instructed the Principal, GMC and Medical Superintendent to submit the list of the officials to be trained by the experts for operating sophisticated machines. Representatives from CPWD & HLL briefed about their preparation and efforts made for commissioning of the hospital.
Director, Floriculture presented a landscaping and beautification plan for the complex. HoDs of various departments also made presentation regarding their preparation for the super specialties.
Direction were issued regarding finalizing services like security, sanitation, pharmacy etc. in two weeks time to enable full fledged functioning of the hospital.

Gupta, Director Floriculture, Jammu, K. K. Sharma, Administrator GMC, Reva Gupta, Medical Superintendent Super Specialty Hospital Dr. Reyaz Ahmad, representatives of HLL, Executive Engineers of various wings and senior officers of Medical Education Department attended the meeting.
