KISHTWAR, Sep 4: As part of his efforts to redress the grievances of the people at their door steps, the Minister of State for PWD (R&B) and Revenue Sunil Kumar Sharma held series of public grievances redressal camps at Beghana and Lower Pochhal areas of Kishtwar.
At Beghana, the locals demanded better connectivity to the area, augmentation of potable water supply, adequate healthcare at PHC and check on the black marketing of LPG Cylinders.
The Minister told the people that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Beghana link road will be submitted for funding after resolving local issues, if any. He also directed PHE Department to take steps to mitigate the problems of water shortage in the area. He asked the department to rationalize the water supply so that every area gets the required drinking water.
Taking strong note of the complaints about the black marketing of LPG Cylinders in the Beghana, Mr Sharma said strict action will be taken against those involved in the illegal activity. He directed the CA&PD Department to closely monitor the distribution of LPG Cylinders, especially subsidized cylinders in the district. He further assured the people that Health Department will be directed to maintain sufficient stock of medical aid at all the medical centres in the rural areas.
At Lower Pochhal, people demanded end to un-scheduled power cuts, development of proper drainage system and creation of economic avenues for the unemployed youth.
Minister informed the locals that bore well of 08 inch dia will be dug in Pochhal to overcome the problem of water shortage in and around the area. He said the project is part of a centrally sponsored scheme. He further announced that a 132 KV transmission line is on cards for Kishtwar which will completely change the power transmission scenario in the district. He also said that additional funds and a buffer stock of transformers will be kept available to meet any exigency in power sector, he added.
Terming poor drainage system a major problem in Kishtwar town, Minister said the improvement of the same is under active consideration and a modern drainage system in the town will become a reality soon.
