KISHTWAR, July 26: To redress the grievances of the people at their doorstep, Minister of State for Transport, Revenue and Rural Development Sunil Sharma today held a public grievance redressal camp here at Paddar.
During the interaction with the Minister, the people highlighted the problems and sought their immediate redressal. The main demands included augmentation of drinking water supply, improvement, upgrading of power infrastructure, black topping of the roads, sanctioning of Degree College for the area besides number of other demands.
Responding to the issues raised by the locals, Sunil Sharma issued on the spot directions asking the concerned departments to take immediate action for early redressal of genuine demands
The Minister informed the gathering that a Model Degree College for Padder has already been approved by the State Government and work for campus and building will commence shortly after the funds are released.
He also informed that a special recruitment rally has been approved by the Ministry of Defence for the area.
He said that to cater to the local electricity needs, Government has proposed to construct a 4 MW Mini Hydro Electric Project on Hanswar Nallah.
“The project has been approved by Government and work is going to start soon”, he said and added the tendering process for another Hydro Electric Project at Kerthaie has also been initiated.
Regarding improvement of power supply scenario, he said the newly constructed Rs 2.24 crore receiving station in the area would be inaugurated in August.
Listing other development projects sanctioned for the area, the Minister said that all the villages of Padder belt will be connected with roads as the Centre Government sanctioned Rs 2800 crore to J&K under 10th phase of PMGSY.
“For improving telecommunication services, a high frequency tower will be installed in the area”, he said, adding the material for the tower has already reached at the site of construction and it will be ready for commissioning by August 1.
Later, Sunil inaugurated a newly constructed Panchayat Ghar at village Kegaie of Afani Panchayat.
