Sunil for prompt service delivery, people friendly environment in offices

Kathua, May 7: To revamp and revitalize the working of Transport Department, Minister of State for Transport and Science and Technology, Sunil Sharma directed the transport authorities to ensure hassle free and prompt service delivery mechanism besides creating a people friendly environment in the Government offices.
These directions were given by the Minister during his visit to the Regional Transport Office Kathua here today.
The Minister directed the concerned officers to expedite and complete the digitization process at the earliest so that the services like grant and renewal  of registration certificates, issuance /renewal of driving licenses and fitness certificates in respect of commercial and non-commercial vehicles etc. are provided to the people in a hassle free and transparent manner besides enabling the  people to avail, safe, efficient and affordable transport services with enhanced connectivity.
He further directed ARTO Kathua to completely abolish the agent culture in transport office and try to put various processes of the department online so that corruption can be curbed and people get relief from visiting transport office frequently.
He further asked the MVD Inspectors to regularly check the illegal vehicles plying on the road and prepare a database of challaned vehicles after every 3 months. He also enquired about the status of various other routes through which overloaded vehicles get entry in our State and instructed the MVD Inspectors to cancel the permit of those vehicles who break the law after repeated warnings.
The Minister added that officers should conduct surprise inspections to check violations of Motor Vehicle Act and exhorted upon them to come up with innovative ideas for improved and efficient transport management. He also said that every effort will be made for early computerization in the transport department and quick verification system. He emphasized on taking trials for license under the surveillance of video camera for transparency and authentication.
During his visit, the Minister inspected all sections of RTO office Kathua and enquired about various services being provided to the masses.
The Minister, later, visited Excise Toll Post Lakhanpur and took stock of various departments working there and exhorted upon them to work in tandem to achieve the target and regulate the traffic in efficient and harmless manner.
DC Excise, Rajesh Sharma, ASP Kathua, Khalil Poswal, ARTO Kathua, Indu Jamwal along with Inspectors of MVD accompanied the Minister during his visit.
