Summer vacations

Sir,
The period of summer vacations is, perhaps the most wonderful and happiest time of the year  for the students with no homework and no tests to worry them. It is this time of the year that the students eagerly wait for throughout the year to have relief from sweltering heat and tiresome, monotonous and tight school schedule. These days many parents make plans to take their childern to hilly stations such as Kashmir, Bhaderwah, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh etc to spend a part of summer vacations and enjoy the breathtaking beauty. Besides, providing escape from sweltering heat, both the parents and the children get a chance to enjoy and explore nature, including lush green meadows, snowcapped mountains, gurgling springs, murmuring rivers, breathtaking hill slopes etc. Parents too get an opportunity to spend quality time with their children. Besides visiting hill resorts, students should be encouraged to visit the homes of their maternal and paternal relatives such as nani, daadi, massi, maamu, fufa etc as the children used to do in the days gone by and foster close interpersonal relations with their cousins, aunts and uncles. Children can also be encouraged to devote a part of their summer vacations for reading books to improve their vocabulary and pass leisure in a profitable manner. It is also fruitful to devote a few days of summer vacations to learn a new skill such as cooking painting, playing musical instruments etc. The children can also be motivated to learn swimming, music, scrapbooking, making toys etc during the breaks. More profitably, they should be enocuraged to plan group activities such as picnics, trekking and conducting tours to villages to study rural life, of course under the supervision and guidance of elders/experts. They should, however, be careful while walking amidst the tall and thick vegetation lest there should be poisonous creatures such as snakes. They should, therefore,  be advised to wear long shoes while walking in the woods and avoid taking selfies on the edge of mountain cliffs and on the banks of deep water bodies as it may cost them their life.
Yours etc…
