JAMMU, Dec 16: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sukhnandan Kumar today visited the office of Assistant Executive Engineer PHE, Sub-Division Dounthly and inspected the Tawi Filtration Plant, Dounthly.
MLA Jammu East Rajesh Gupta also accompanied the Minister during the visit.
The Minster was informed that frequent power cuts in the area lead to some problems in the water supply. The Minister directed the concerned officers to consult the Commissioner of Power Development Depart-ment to do the needful so that adequate supply of drinking water can be maintained in the city. He gave on spot directions to the officers to check and fix any leakages in water supply system.
The Minister directed the officers of PHE Department to construct boundary wall around storage water tank No. 2 at Karan Nagar so that stray cattle do not enter the premises.
Later, the Minister conducted a surprise check of the office of Executive Engineer PHE Mechanical Ground Water Drilling Division, Jammu and checked the attendance register to ascertain the presence of staff in the office. He also visited the PHE tubewell at Peerkho and graveyard at Gujjar Nagar.
The Minister directed the officers to restrict entry of general public at Tawi Filtration Plant.
The Minister was informed that a proposal for augmentation of Tawi Filtration Plant has been submitted to ensure round the clock availability of clean drinking water to the people of the city.
Chief Engineer PHE and Irrigation Rajeev Gandotra and other officers of the department accompanied the minister during the visit.
