JAMMU, Dec 16: The activists of Jammu West Assembly Movement held demonstration against the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) for the worst sanitation condition prevailing in Jammu city, particularly in the West Assembly constituency, as also damaged lanes and drains which create traffic chaos in the city.
Addressing the gathering Sunil Dimple, president, JWAM alleged that no development works are being carried forward properly in the Jammu city and particularly in the West Assembly constituency which has been turned in to the city of “dumps and garbage” and all the development works are stand still after the formation of the BJP-PDP Government in the State.
Dimple demanded for announcement of the special financial package for the reconstruction of the over flowing dilapidated drains and nallahs as these are very narrow and can not withstand so much discharge of water.
He said JMC sanitation staff should perform its duty in double shift as no sanitation officer, staff is visible in the evening hours and demanded for the recruitment of the more safaikaramcharis as the Jammu city has expanded much and population increased multifold. He further alleged all street lights on the main roads and lanes are out of order.
He also alleged that adulteration in the edibles and milk was at the top. The menace of the stray dogs has created terror in the city.
Dimple demanded announcement and the schedule of the Jammu Municipal Corporation elections which should be held in a free and fare manner.
