Sukhnandan asks women to avail benefits of welfare schemes

JAMMU, Nov 10: Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Sukhnandan K Choudhary today distributed sewing machines among 30 women at a function organized at village Karloop in Marh Block.
The sewing machines were provided by the Om Prakash Bansal Charitable Trust.
These beneficiaries have also undergone training in cutting and tailoring in the centre sponsored by the Social Welfare Department at village Karloop. The initiative will help the beneficiaries to promote their skill and make them self-reliant.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that Government was committed to empower the women folk, especially in the rural and far-flung areas and numerous programmes have been launched in this direction. He asked the beneficiaries to take full advantage of these initiatives and become self-reliant and lead a dignified life. He asked the Sarpanchs/Panchs to motivate the poor and down-trodden women beneficiaries to avail benefits of such schemes and improve their living conditions.
