RAMBAN, May 18: A submerged truck along with dead body of its driver was recovered after six days from river Chenab here today.
As per police sources, on May 12 this year, a truck bearing registration number JK01P-0417 rolled down into gorge near Jaiswal bridge at Karool and later submerged into the Chenab river.
The rescuers saved conductor of the vehicle identified as Umar Ahmed, son of Mohammad Amin, a resident of Qazigund and shifted him to District Hospital Ramban for treatment.
The driver of the truck identified as Mohammad Shafi of Qazigund was drowned in the river and today, a joint team of NDRF, SDRF and Ramban Police Station recovered the submerged truck from the river along with dead body of the driver.
A case under relevant sections already stands registered at Police Station Ramban and investigation going on.
