Students protest staff shortage

Excelsior Correspondent
RAJOURI, Oct 6: Students of Govt Degree College, Thannamandi held protest against the PDP-BJP Government and alleged that their career is being ruined by Mufti Government for want of teaching staff.
The students boycotted their classes and came out on the road and then started protest at Shahdara Chowk. They were shouting slogans against the Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Education Minister Naeem Akhtar and even PDP president Mehbooba Mufti who recently had given assurance to place teaching staff at this college within couple of days when she was on visit to Shahdara Sharief.
The students pointed out that 23 posts of lecturers/ assistant professors have been sanctioned for this college but only four (4) are in place at present. Hardly 45 days are left for the exams and till today the much needed staff has not been posted at the college. The syllabus will remain uncovered and they all will fail in the exams. They alleged that this Government is proving most insensitive towards the Education of the students. Many other colleges are also facing the similar situation. They have been protesting for the last more than one month but nobody bothers over the issue.
They said hardly two weeks back they stopped the cavalcade of PDP president Mehbooba Mufti (MP), she listened to the problem and assured agitating students to get the staff posted there within couple of days but she also befooled the students and vanished. Even after 15 days no staff has been posted in this college. The students warned to put a lock on the college gate and start hunger strike at the main gate if the staff was not posted within 7 days.
