Students protest over staff shortage in Budhal school

RAJOURI, June 18: The students of Govt High School Gabber (Budhal) today held strong protest against the shortage of staff in the school.
Senior BJP leader from Budhal area Manzoor Ahmed Naik visited Government High School Gabber, where students have been staging a peaceful protest since morning against the acute shortage of teaching staff and the poor condition of school infrastructure.
The protest, led by students from various classes, highlighted the gross negligence of the concerned authorities and the injustice meted out to more than 360 enrolled students, the majority of whom belong to economically and educationally backward areas.
Govt High School Gabber was upgraded from a Middle School to a High School in 2007 by the then local MLA, Late Thakur Puran Singh, with the hope of providing quality education to the children of this remote region. Unfortunately, even after 18 years of its upgradation, the school continues to suffer from an alarming shortage of staff and deplorable infrastructure.
Currently, out of the nine sanctioned posts, only four have been filled, while five vital teaching positions remain vacant. These include four regular teacher posts and one Physical Education Master (PEM) post. Most shockingly, the school is functioning with only three active teaching staff members for over 360 students, making it virtually impossible to maintain any academic standard. This situation has demoralized students, teachers, and parents.
Adding to the crisis is the dilapidated condition of the school building, which poses serious safety hazards to both students and staff. Classrooms are crumbling, basic facilities are missing, and the overall environment is unfit for a high school-level institution.
While addressing the protesting students and locals, Manzoor Ahmed Naik termed the situation as a complete failure of the NC Government, whose tenure failed to address these critical issues despite repeated demands from the public. He assured the students that he will personally take up the matter with the Director of School Education Jammu, as well as other higher officials, and make every possible effort to get the vacant positions filled and the infrastructure repaired within a week.
