SRINAGAR, June 24: Some students of Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar were beaten by their batch mates in their hostel campus for cheering the victory of Indian cricket team over England in Champions Trophy final last evening.
The students said at around 1:30 am in the middle of night when India registered a win, some Indian team fans stated celebrating it by beating drums, blowing whistles and dancing amid loud cries, which disturbed many of the students sleeping in the same hostel building.
“We initially told them not to make so much of noise, but they didn’t listen to us, instead of that they started shouting repeatedly, which led to minor argument between us,” said a student of the college.
But students who were beaten alleged the India’s win doesn’t suit to them that was the reason they beat them.
