KATHUA, July 22: An anti encroachment drive was launched in Kathua town today and many illegal structure raised by land mafia on Gair Mumkin Khud in the heart of city were demolished.
The drive was supervised by Deputy Commissioner, Kathua, Dr Raghav Langer and team of Revenue Department , Municipal Council and Kathua police demolished the illegal building raised by influential politician in the Gair Mumkin Khud in the city on down streams of main city bridge . The land grabber raised a huge structure on the Government land illegally without any permission from Municipal Council Kathua.
He had to only lay the slab on the structure now before it was demolished by the anti demolishing squad today.
A JCB was put on job and it demolished the structure. A heavy deployment of police was also made to avoid any untoward incident. Two more structures were demolished by the team in which one shop was also raised by another politically influential person near the Capt Sunil, Chowdhury Chowk with out any permission from MC.
The Assistant Commissioner, Revenue Devinder Pal said that the action has been taken against the land encroachers and the illegal structure were demolished. He said the Municipal Council Kathua informed the district administration and sought the police assistance to take appropriate legal action. He said the action would continue and no one will be spared for encroaching the State land. It is recalled that yesterday some land encroachers also tried to encroach a piece of land near Nabha Dass temple and started fencing of land which is known as Children graveyard. When the residents’ of the area came to know about the encroachment of land by the mafia they assembled there and demolished the fencing and temporary structure. The land grabbers have eye on Gair Mumkin Khud flowing in the middle of Kathua town.
