Street lights lying defunct in Mendhar town

Excelsior Correspondent
MENDHAR, Dec 27: The street lights in Mendhar town are lying defunct for the last nearly two years and the concerned agency ( RDD and Panchayat Deptt) failed to get them repaired.
The Beopar Mandal members led by Parveen Sawhney during meeting held here expressed strong resentment over the matter. They alleged that about a dozen large flood lights were installed at main points in the main market some time back by the agency but for the last two years, all of these lights are lying out of order.  Panchayat Deptt which is  responsible for cleanliness and street lights in the town, has failed to get them repaired or replaced. They said that traders and general people of the town are facing problems due to it and due to darkness during nights several thefts have taken place in last one year. They demanded that street lights be restored in the town and the local administration should take cognizance of the matter.
