Stop work on Kahara-Jai road: TDF

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Oct 8: President of Thathri Development Front (TDF), district Doda along with Om Parkash Rao, Surinder Kumar, Mohinder Singh and Kashmir Singh demanded immediate stopping of execution work on Kahara-Jai road.
They said that high level committee was constituted to submit report, but the committee members never visited the spot and submitted their report while sitting in their office chambers. The report was prepared by local and lower rank officers of R&B, PMGSY and Forest against which the public had complained to the Government and also in the Court.
They said that the court directions have not been followed in letter and spirit, which has created anguish among the people.
They further stated that as per 2007 survey of R&B Sub-Division Gandoh, the road plan was sanctioned from Kahara to Joura (Kalan) in the first Phase of Kahara-Jai road project, covering a distance of 16 kms. Then how and why did the PMGSY Survey crop up in 2011 taking the road from Halaran to Joura Khurd instead through villages Budhi and Joura Kalan?.
They further said that the report shows damage to 753 trees from Halaran to Joura Khurd and only 354 trees from Joura Khurd to Lambi-Jai. This is completely false report as the stretch from Joura Khurd to Lambi Jai is a thick forest area of 9 kilometers in length with thousands of deodar and cheer trees, they said and demanded probe through some impartial, honest and competent officers.
They further said that if proper inquiry is not conducted & the order No:- 328 PWD(R&B) dated 18-07-2014 is not reviewed & if consequently the work as per the challenged survey goes on, the land of the people of Budhi & Joura, which comes in this survey, is consumed without any road connectivity to them, they may not tolerate this gross injustice & some strong resentment may erupt for which the concerned authorities will be responsible. So we appeal the State Government that the work be stopped until thorough probe is conducted.
