JAMMU, June 4: President Sainik Samaj Party (SSP), Col. S.S Pathania (retired) has expressed concern over the shifting of proposed Government Degree College (GDC) from village Rakh Rara to border village Palota.
In a handout Pathania said that the Government has sanctioned a degree college for Ramgarh Tehsil in Samba in the year 2019 and village Rakh Rara was selected for that.
“After a lapse of three years and despite numerous requests made by the people no construction work has started for the college building. On May 31, 2023, Principal Secretary Higher Education, Alok Sharma and DC Samba announced through social media that the proposed Degree College at Rakh Rara shall be shifted to border village Palota,” the SSP leader maintained adding that this shattered the hopes of thousands of people belonging to nearby villages who were dreaming of good education through GDC at centrally located place.
He requested J&K LG to investigate the matter and provide justice to the people of the area.
