Stolen Sumo recovered, 2 arrested

RAJOURI, Jan 11: Banihal police recovered a Tata Sumo, stolen from Shahdara Sharief area of Thannamandi, on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway this morning.
The police also nabbed two persons in this connection and both of them hail from Kashmir. They are identified as Mohd Imran, son of Abdul Ahad, resident of Shopian and Aijaz Ahmed, son of Ghulam Mohd, resident of Kulgam.
The vehicle bearing registration No. JK-11/1962, was lifted by these two youth during last night from the main market of Shahdara Sharief near Thannamandi. The owner /driver came to know about the theft in the morning and rushed to Police Station to lodge report.
SDPO Thannamandi Mujid-ul-Rehman then directed to pass on information to all the police stations and nakas. A Banihal police party intercepted the vehicle at naka. The vehicle broke the naka and also caused injuries to an SI and a Police Constable. The police chased the vehicle and intercepted it again near Nowgam. Both the accused were arrested and taken to police Station.
Thannamandi police was informed about the recovery of the stolen vehicle and the accused and vehicle was being brought to Thannamandi.
