JCC announces 5-day strike prog from Feb 19

JAMMU, Jan 11: The employees’ Joint Consultative Committee (JCC), a common platform of several employees’ bodies across the State, announced its next and final phase of 5-day strike from February 19, 2013.
Addressing a press conference here today, senior JCC leader Abdul Qayoom Wani said that Government was given sufficient time and now, another last breathing time was given to the Government again up to February 18. He said the three day strike programme of the employees received tremendous response across the State.
The JCC leader pointed out that some more employees’ bodies have expressed desire to launch collective struggle which will get more strength and momentum. He said from February 19 to 23, there will be complete strike in State Government and PSU offices.
On first day (February 19) of strike, demonstrations will be held at all the 22 district headquarters of the State. On February 20, 21 and 22, gate demonstrations and dharnas will be held in all the offices and on February 23 mega demonstrations/ rallies will be taken out in Srinagar and Jammu. They employees’ mass rally will move towards Civil Secretariat in Jammu while programme will commence from Press Enclave at Srinagar. He said the Government is hardly bothered about the issues of the employees and inconvenience to the general public. It has been forcing the workers to come out on the roads, he stated.
Another JCC leader said the employees may go on indefinite strike from February 23 onwards if the Government attitude remained rigid. Meanwhile, the JCC leadership has appealed all the unions and associations of the employees to launch collective struggle for their common cause. Jaswant Singh, Ganesh Khajuria, Amrik Singh, Kulwant Singh, Ghulam Rasool Gelani and others were also present.
Meanwhile, another senior JCC leader, Mohd Khursheed Alam at a press conference in Srinagar today declared that State Government will be responsible for the problems that people will face during next five-day strike programme from February 11.
Mr Alam said employees do not want confrontation with the Government about their demands. But its indifferent attitude has aggravated the problems for the commoners. He said the emergency services have been exempted from the purview of strike and the strike has now entered the final and decisive phase.
