Stolen mobile phones worth Rs 26 lakh recovered, 3 arrested

Srinagar, Sept 11: Srinagar Police today said to have recovered stolen mobile phones worth about Rs 26 lakh and arrested 3 burglars who were involved in the crime.
The details about the recovery and the arrests that were made were given out by the SSP, Srinagar Haseeb Mughal during a press conference here.
Giving out the details, it was said that on June 4 Muhammad Amir Malik son of Hussain Malik, of Deviangan Hawal lodged a written report at Police Station Nowhatta.
Police said that he stated in his complaint that he has a mobile shop at Gojwara Chowk and during the intervening night of June 3-4 some unknown burglars barged into his shop and decamped with mobile phones of different brands worth lakhs of rupees.
On receipt of the complaint, the police said, a case FIR No. 33/2020 U/S 457, 380 IPC was registered and investigation taken up.
Police said that during the course of investigation services of FSL unit as well as electronic surveillance unit were utilized. The tower dump of the area was analysed and IMEI numbers of stolen mobile phones were put on surveillance for any lead in the case.
As per the details given out by the police, an important clue emerged when a CCTV camera of a nearby shop recorded 3 suspected persons who seemed to be scrap collectors entering the mobile shop and leaving after sometime with some sacks.
On the basis of the CCTV footage, searches were carried out across city in the areas with settlements of non-local scarp collectors.

“After nearly 2 months one stolen mobile became active with used location at New Delhi and SDR was found as Abdul Razaq Sheikh s/o Muhammad Sulaiman Sheikh, r/o JJ Colony, Bhwana Delhi,” the police said.
In order to investigate the matter, a police party headed by an officer was deputed to Delhi and the accused was arrested on September 6.
During the questioning, the accused disclosed that he had hidden stolen mobile phones at his residence at J.J Colony Bhawana, Delhi.
On the disclosure of the accused, a police party recovered and seized 112 mobile phones along with the accessories from the spot.
The police said that the accused Abdul Razaq was later shifted from New Delhi to Srinagar and again questioned when he revealed names of two associated as Muhammad Alamin Sheikh alias Faggu Sheikh, s/o Muhammad Fazlu Shiekh, r/o Madanour Khadar district Sarita Vihar New Delhi at present Harnag Anantnag and Muhamad Jehangir Sheikh, s/o Muhammad Fazlu o Madanour Khadar district Sarita Vihar New Delhi at present Harnag Anantnag and also disclosed that few few mobile phones are still dumped in the rented room of his associate namely Muhammad Jehangir.
Police raided the spot and arrested the accused and also recovered 11 stolen mobile sets from the rented room of Mohammad Jahangir.
