Steamer capsizes in Ravi river, driver untraced

KATHUA, Oct 15: A sand loaded steamer capsized in river Ravi in Basholi area of the district.
As per reports, the steamer engaged to collect sand from the river Ravi capsized, due to the heavy flow of the winds, this afternoon.
The steamer was carrying sand and was moving towards Basohli for unloading, when it capsized, due to the heavy flow of winds. The driver and two labourers drowned in the river.
The labourers namely Naresh, son of Raj of Gangrota, Basholi and Liaquat Ali, son of Nazir Din of Dirdhi, Pallai, swam out, while, driver of the steamer identified as Ali Mohd, son of Ramzan of Dirdhi, Pallai, remained untraced, till late night.
The search operation to fish out the body of the driver will resume tomorrow morning, while, a case has been registered in this regard.
