KATHUA, Nov 28: ‘Jan Jagran Abhiyan’ campaign of Congress today reached Kathua where a protest rally was organised as part of the campaign.
The protest rally was organised by DCC Kathua president, Pankaj Dogra and was led by JKPCC vice president, Raman Bhalla; Manmohan Singh, JKPCC general secretary and others.
Holding placards and party flags the protesters raised anti-BJP Government slogans.
Addressing protesters, Bhalla said that Congress is the only party that can restore dignity as well as protect the identity of the people of J&K.
He said that Government of India should fulfil its promise of restoring statehood to J&K without any delay.
“Both Prime Minister and Home Minister have committed to the people of J&K on different occasions that statehood will be restored but dilly dally tactics are alienating people,” Bhalla claimed underscoring the need for creating sports facilities in J&K.
He also said that ever since BJP came to power, inflation has become formidable and the BJP is now trying to create a situation of scarcity in every area so that people are pushed to hunger, malnutrition and diseases.
The Congress leader said that people of Rajasthan, Himachal, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Dadra & Nagar Haveli defeated BJP in by-polls after which prices of petroleum were reduced.
“Every Congress worker is today going to the people to make them aware and our campaign is to highlight concerns of the poor people,” he maintained.
Bhalla also said that people of Jammu displayed faith in BJP and gave it huge mandate with hope that their grievances will be taken note of but after forming Government BJP sidelined Jammu related issues.
