JAMMU, Apr 13: To achieve the highest level of success by using Schedule Tribe status as an effective tool for educational upliftment and socio-cultural development of the Gujjar-Bakerwal youth-the Tribal Research and Cultural Foundation today started a state-wide programme to guide young talent of the community.
According to Dr Javaid Rahi, secretary, Tribal Foundation, the main objective of launching this programme was to channelize the energies of Gujjar-Bakerwal youth of the State through proper guidance enabling them to compete in different competitive and other exams by making a mark of positive contribution to the State.
“In initial phase, we have to reach out to those youths of the community who live in far-flung areas and want to pursue various academic and professional degree courses to harness their skills, develop their personality and improve their communication skills,” he explained.
Gujjar youth including Dr Shahid Iqbal IAS, Aijaz Ahmed IAS, Suleman Chowdhary IPS Ch Ayaz Kohli IRS, Raveda Salam IPS and other KAS officers will be key persons for guidance of community youth.
There are various agencies that are cooperating with the Foundation for the smooth and successful conduction of the movement, including Centre for Life Long Learning, University of Jammu, J&K Gujjar Bakerwal Students Federation, SC / ST Student Federation and other local organizations.
The Tribal Foundation will provide basic knowledge about different schemes for STs youth and provide co-ordination to Gujjar NGOs’ /Bhawans across the country including those who are working for Gujjars in Punjab, H P, Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi, Gujrat, UP and Uttaranchal willing to provide financial assistance to poor students belonging to Gujjar-Bakerwal of the State for all type studies up-to Ph D level.
