JAMMU, Apr 24: State Fencer and student of Geology Department, University of Jammu, Ujwal Gupta, brought laurels to the State as well to the Jammu University by winning Gold medal and getting selected as one of the players to represent India in Saber event individual as well as team member.
He was selected during the second South Asian Fencing Championship competitions held at Hyderabad recently.
Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, Prof Mohan Pal Singh Ishar, while interacting with the Gold Medal winning team of India including Ujwal Gupta and Rashid Ahmed Choudhary, promised them to provide maximum financial help for promotion of Fencing Game for International participation.
Prof Dhian Singh Bhau, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, while introducing both the players with the Vice Chancellor expressed that Ujwal Gupta, student IV Semester, Geology Department and Rashid Ahmed Choudhary who happens to be ex student of this University are the real gems who have raised over heads very high not only in India but at International Platforms.
Prof Bhau requested the University authorities as well as Government to come out with a free hand to help such type of players financially as well as morally so that they keep on raising the prestige of the State at international forums.
