JAMMU, Sept 7: An emergency meeting was convened here today at party headquarters. It had been called to discuss the post floods situation in several areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting was chaired by State general secretary (Organization) Ashok Koul in presence of Legislature Party leader Ashok Khajuria, National Executive Member Shamsher Singh Manhas, State vicepPresident Chander Prakash Ganga and State general secretary Kavinder Gupta.
The meeting appreciated the relief measures announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh for the State. The State party leaders expressed gratitude towards the Mr Modi and Mr Singh for visiting the State personally to take stock of the situation.
The Party leaders, after due deliberations, decided to constitute “Jammu Kashmir BJP Aapda Rahat Kosh” (Disaster Relief Fund) and also to open a special bank account to help the needy in this hour of crisis under the same name.
It was further decided that all senior party leaders shall be deputed on emergency basis in different flood affected areas. The decision has been taken to provide help to people in areas where floods have led to destruction and the people have virtually been forced on the roads, having lost their homes and the roofs over their heads.
The meeting also decided to nominate leaders as in charge of different areas so that rescue, relief and rehabilitation measures are monitored in a coordinated manner. Accordingly, different leaders have been assigned different areas to work with the affected people.
For Jammu its and adjoining areas, Ashok Khajuria, Col. Uttam Singh, Sakina Bano, Chander Mohan Sharma, Sat Sharma, Yudhvir Sethi, Pramod Kapahi, Rajni Sethi, Dr. Nirmal Kamal, Arun Kumar Gupta, Karan Singh, Chander Mohan Gupta, Arun Chibber and Jaidev Rajwal have been asked to reach out to the affected people. Since the areas are densely populated and a large number of people are affected, these leaders were asked to provide immediate relief, whatever is possible at present.
Chander Mohan Sharma, Bansi Lal Bharti and Rashpalji have been asked to carry out day to day liaison and coordination at the party headquarters.
Leaders who have been nominated, districtwise, to look after the needs of the people include Shamsher Singh Manhas and Karan Singh for Akhnoor, Chader Prakash Ganga for Samba, Col. Uttam Singh for Reasi, Bali Bhagat for Rajouri, Kavinder Gupta for Udhampur, Chander
Mohan Gupta for Nowshera, Charanjeet Singh Khalsa  for Poonch, Aseem Gupta for Kathua, Arun Chibber for Ramban and Ramesh Arora  for Kashmir valley.
