Jammu, May 17: Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) leader Sunil Dimple has send a memorandum to Governor Satya Pal Malik and Commissioner Secretary PHE Ajit Kumar Sahu demanding start of work on Akhnoor-Chenab water supply scheme.
Dimple claimed that river Tawi is not meeting the drinking water requirements of Jammu city and the rural areas between Jammu and Akhnoor, so work on Akhnoor-Chenab water supply scheme becomes important.
A handout stated that the memorandum alleged failure of PHE, PDD and ERA.
Through the memorandum JWAM leader Sunil Dimple opposed the installation of water meters and the smart recharging PDD electric meters.
He also asked PHE authorities to start developmental work and added that work done on ERA sewerage network was substandard and it is now creating problems.
The memorandum also contained the demand of replacing 30-40 years old rusted PHE main pipes as same are becoming reason for wastage of water due to leakages in them.
