SSJAC protests against JU administration

JAMMU, June 11: Alleging mismanagement and chaos in the university affairs, activists of Student Scholar Joint Action Committee held a protest demonstration on the campus, here today.
The protesters, led by Lovedeep Singh Mankotia, raised slogans against the JU administration and Vice-Chancellor for their failure to address the problem of the scholars and students.
“Scholars having NET JRF are being denied admission for the Ph D research in large number to accommodate some blue eyed students,” said Lovedeep Singh.
Nishi Slathia, Balwinder Kour and Saroj Sani, female scholars from the Department of Regional and Strategic Studies, alleged that JU authorities were working under the pressure of some influential political leaders who have destroyed the sanctity of Jammu university.
“Under Jammu university order Estab/14/2660.60 dated 25-3- 2014 in which  the Registrar said that all those students  who have completed M Phil will get the admission in  Ph D as per seniority but the same order was not being implemented,” said Nishi Slathia.
Accusing the JU administration of being repressive and autocrat, Nishant Verma said that entry of some student leaders was banned to stifle the voice against prevailing mismanagement and unethical attitude of the university authorities.
The protesters appealed Governor N N Vohra for his immediate intervention to save the JU. They also demanded a ban on all appointments in the university till the new VC takes over.
Others who addressed the protesters, included  Amit Singh, Atul Jamwal, Pardeep Singh Chib, Tushar Singh, Gopi Martyal, Rinzen and  Shiv Pal Singh.
