Srinagar, Mar 30: Breaking the record of SKIMS, Soura where 5 primary angioplasty procedures were carried out in a day in 2015, 6 such procedures have been carried out at the Super Super Speciality Hospital Srinagar in one single day.
As per details, 6 patients underwent Primary/ Rescue angioplasty in Govt Super Speciality Hospital Srinagar, while 2 patients were in cardiogenic shock.
Those patients who underwent the procedure were a male smoker, diabetic of 70 years of age, 48 years old smoker, 47 years smoker, 37 years smoker whose father died of MI at 60 years, a female of 58 years of age with hypertension, and another male of 46 years army personnel, smoker.
Notably, all the procedures were carried out under the SEHAT scheme. The doctors said that all the patients are stable and doing well. “The previous record in JK was five in SKIMS in 2015 and that record is broken today,” the doctors said.
They said that the data shows how rampant is heart attack and how risk factors, particularly smoking plays a very important role in causing heart attacks in young.
“Primary angioplasty is the best procedure if done timely and is much superior to thrombolysis as seen in two rescue angioplasties who had failed thrombolysis,” doctors said.
They said that the Govt Super Speciality Hospital Shireen Bagh Srinagar is fully equipped and geared to tackle any such burden with 3 cath labs and 11 cardiologists in place.
