JAMMU, May 12: Shiv Sena Hindustan (SSH) today slammed Union Government for allegedly failing to take steps to secure the release of Indian Prisoners of Wars (PoWs) languishing in Pakistani jails.
Amid slogans, the protesters led by Shiv Sena Hindustan State president Rajesh Kesari assembled at Kachi Chawni and burnt an effigy of the Congress-led UPA Government.
They demanded appropriate steps to be taken to ensure the release of Indian PoWs, who were held in jails of Pakistan for the last four decades.
While speaking, Rajesh Kesari said that the Central Government is not serious about 1971-war prisoners who have been languishing in Pakistani jails for the last 43 years.
He added that neither was the Government helping out the families of Indian PoWs who continue to live in despair.
“Government should extend a helping hand to the families of the PoWs, so that they don’t have to face any hardships and their children get educated. They deserve at least this much”, he said.
