JAMMU, June 28: The peaceful protest of All J&K SRTC Drivers Union, Jammu province against the high headedness of the SRTC management and in support of their demands, today entered into fifth day.
As the drivers preferred to stay away from steering, the operation of passenger fleets came to a standstill as almost all the buses of the fleet came to halt.
The leaders accompanied by hundreds of drivers held a protest demonstration at Green Belt Park as they were stopped from assembling at Rail Head complex.
The day long protest was addressed by a galaxy of spokesmen. Each and every participant showed his anguish over the high headedness of the management, which instead of looking into the very just and genuine demands was trying to suppress and harass the drivers, who have till now been treated as bonded labourers by the bosses.
Later the drivers in the shape of deputation met Minister for Housing, Sports and Culture, Raman Bhalla at his residence and explained to him the high headedness of the management.
The deputation told the Minister that Managing Director in his attempt to settle personal scores categorically did not order the regularization order in favour of Didar Singh and when the drivers protested in favour of their demands, he terminated the services of their leaders.
The Minister gave a patient hearing to the deputation and assured that he will definitely intervene to get the matter sorted out by assuring the re-instatement of leaders as well as issuance of regularization order of Didar Singh within a day or two.
The drivers later re-assembled again at Green Belt Park and after discussions gave ‘Kashmir Chalo’ call on July 1, 2014
