KATHUA, Aug 13: A SPO died of snake bite here, today. He was identified as Darshan Kumar, son of Hukum Chand of village Sadrotta, tehsil Billawar in Kathua district.
As per reports the SPO was posted at Police Post Kharkrra under the jurisdiction of Police Station Kathua. While on duty a snake bit him this afternoon. He was rushed to District Hospital Kathua by his colleagues for treatment where from doctors referred him to Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu but he died on way to GMC near Samba.
His body was later handed over to family by police for last rites after postmortem at DH Kathua. The residents of the area have demanded due compensation to the family as the SPO died on duty.
