Speed up work on Gulabgarh-Machail Mata road: Pahari Forum

‘Sanction Munsiff Court, Stadium in Paddar’

KISHTWAR, Feb 21: A delegation of people from remote Gulabgarh- Paddar area of district Kishtwar today met the Chief Secretary, Arun Kumar Mehta in Civil Secretariat, Jammu and demanded to speed up work on Machail Mata Road, set up a Munsiff Court and a good Sports Stadium in Paddar Sub Division.
Led by chairman, Pahari Development Forum and Member State Executive Committee of BJP in JKUT, Kartar Singh Rathore and senior BJP leader Surjeet Singh, the members during meeting with the Chief Secretary submitted a memorandum and projected the issues of the people from this remote area of Kishtwar district.
They pointed out that lakhs of pilgrims visit Machail Mata every year and the road work under PMGSY was started about a decade ago but due to very slow pace of work, the pilgrims are facing lot of hardships. They demanded that work on Paddar-Pallali-Machail Mata Road be speeded up and regular monitoring of work be conducted by senior officers. They also demanded construction of bridle path from Khundail to Cheshoti (Machail Mata route), damaged due to heavy rains, land slides and flood last year.
The Forum members further demanded that construction work on direct bridge between Atholi and Gulabgarh over river Chenab be completed. They said the work was started during 2010 by JKPCC but till today could not be completed due to non-release of funds.
They also demanded construction of sports stadium and establishment of Munsiff Court at Gulabgarh as people have to go to Kishtwar by covering 65 kms distance for seeking a bail or any petty court work. The Forum further demanded staff at newly constructed Sub District Hospital Atholi (Paddar), sanctioning of staff at ITI Gulabgarh which is lying defunct.
Forum further demanded that a Health Centre at Machail be set up and Health Sub Centre at Cheshoti be upgraded to PHC level. It also demanded that Jal Jeevan Scheme may be implemented in Paddar Sub Division as many areas were facing water scarcity.
Rathore pointed out that due to rains and floods, about half a dozen bridges in the area have washed away/ damaged. The work on the bridges like at Cheshoti, Kundail, Kukan, Devili, Sanyas, Leondi etc be constructed and construction on proposed Kundal Bridge on the local river be started without any delay. The Chief Secretary assured the delegation to take on these works on priority.
