JAMMU, Apr 10: A special parcel van started by the Indian Railways to transport essential goods in parts of the country today morning arrived here at Jammu Tawi Railway Station.
The parcel van carrying bags of masks arrived this morning at around 0800 hours. Indian Railways has decided to run parcel vans between Jammu and New Delhi to keep up uninterrupted flow of essential commodities in the Jammu and Kashmir during the ongoing lockdown to contain COVID-19 outbreak.
“In view of Coronavirus pandemic, to meet the requirements of necessary items, the parcel van is transporting all such goods,” an official here said. He said that the train arrived here with masks, which were to be distributed to health institutions, civilians and security forces.

During the ongoing nationwide lockdown in wake of Corona outbreak, the Indian Railways has taken an important decision to ensure supply of necessary material in Jammu and Kashmir to meet the short fall if any.
In order to provide the necessary material to Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian Railways has have decided to run special freight trains between Delhi and Jammu Tawi.
An order issued by Indian Railways said that train number 00403/00404 will run Parcel Express train from Delhi Junction to Jammu Tawi Jangshan. This train would run from Delhi to Jammu from April 09 -15, it would depart from Delhi at 2230 hrs and shall reach Jammu at 0815 hrs the next day.
In return, this Parcel Express Train would run from Jammu to Delhi from April 10-16 and it would leave at 1810 hrs and shall reach Delhi around 0400 hrs the next day. The Parcel Express train enroute to national capital halts at Pathankot, Ludhiana, Ambala and Panipat Railway Stations.
