Speaker visits Wani’s residence, assures probe

JAMMU, Mar 15: Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Mubarak Gul visited the residence of late Altaf Ahmad Wani, who was killed due to bullet fire at Saidpur Eidgah on March 13 and condoled with his family members.
Minister of State for Home Sajad Ahmad Kichloo, former Minister and MLA Nasir Aslam Wani, District Development Commissioner, Srinagar, Senior Superintendent of Police, Srinagar and other district officers accompanied the Speaker during his visit on Thursday.
On the occasion, special prayers were held for the eternal peace to the departed soul.
Mr. Gul described late Wani a noble soul whose contribution for the welfare of the people of the area will be remembered for ever.
The Speaker said that late Wani was a social worker and he always worked for the welfare of artisan community and weaker sections of the society of the Eidgarh area.
He assured the family members that Government has already constituted an enquiry committee headed by DGP and hoped that culprits would be soon brought to book.
Mr. Gul gave immediate ex-gratia relief to the next kin of the deceased as he was the only bread earner of his family. He assured them that every possible assistance would be provided to the family.
