Speaker for making House Committees result-oriented

SRINAGAR, June 6: Speaker Legislative Assembly Dr Nirmal Singh today asked Chairmen of Financial and other Committees of the House to ensure the effective, meaningful and result-oriented functioning of the Committees.
The Speaker was chairing a meeting with all Chairmen of Financial and other Committee of the House here to discuss and review the working of these Committees besides exploring ways and means under Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the J&K Legislative Assembly for ensuring their effective, expeditious, transparent and result oriented functioning.
Speaker also called for close coordination between the Administration and the Assembly Secretariat. He directed the Secretary Assembly R L Sharma to ensure full assistance from the Assembly Secretariat to the members of the Committees.
Chairman, Committee on Public Accounts, Ali Mohammad Sagar, Chairman, Committee on Public Undertakings, Ch Sukhnandan Kumar, Chairman Committee on Estimates, Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, Chairman on Petitions, R S Pathania, Chairman Committee on Privileges, Abdul Majid Padder, Chairman on Subordinate Legislation, Raja Manzoor Ahmed, Chairman Ethics Committee, Pawan Kumar Gupta and Chairman on Environment Committee, Ravinder Raina attended the meeting and gave their valuable suggestions to make the functioning of the Financial and other Committees of the House more viable besides decisions, suggestions and recommendations of Committee should be properly implemented in letter and spirit.
The Speaker also directed the authorities of the General Administration Department (GAD) to issue a circular to all the departments with regard to the implementation of the recommendations and observations of the reports laid on the table of the House from time to time impressing upon them to strictly adhere to Rule 308-A of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in J&K Legislative Assembly.
Secretary, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Abdul Majid Bhat, and Additional Secretary GAD, Bashir Ahmed Lone assured the meeting that full cooperation will be given from the Government in providing timely material as well as reply of questionnaire to the Assembly Secretariat well in time besides gave some important suggestions regarding to improving the functioning of the Committees.
Speaker directed the Assembly Secretariat to take necessary steps to make a provision of one-hour discussion on the reports submitted by the financial and other Committees as suggested by the Chairmen of the Committees in the meeting so that the decisions and recommendations contained in the reports of the Committee would be implemented on ground.
AG Audit, Sushil Thakur, Secretary, Legislative Assembly, R L Sharma, Additional Secretary, Assembly Naseem Jan, In-charges of various Committees besides senior officers and officials of Assembly Secretariat were present in the meeting.
