SRINAGAR, June 9: Former Union Minister and veteran Congress leader Prof Saifuddin Soz has said that he was surprised over Kashmir mainstream’s reaction to the appointment of Satish Chandra as Chairman J&K Public Service Commission, which is somewhat subdued.
“If the mainstream had to show any reservations on Satish Chandra’s appointment, it should have said so in a louder voice. The basic question is that the J&K Administration has travelled all the way to Rajasthan to find an officer to be appointed as Chairman of the J&K Public Service Commission,” Soz asserted.
“The matter is that there is a galaxy of officers belonging to India’s Civil Service available here and in the immediate neighbourhood and the Administration did not find any one of them fit to be appointed for the J&K Public Service Commission. It is in many ways that we have fallen to bad times. There is already a trust deficit between the J&K State and the Union of India and every passing day adds to that deficit,” he added.
