SRINAGAR, Sept 12: Former Union Minister and veteran Congress leader Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz today appealed to the mainstream political parties in Valley to rise to the occasion at this critical juncture and sit together and draw a consensus on what needs to be done by the main actors to resolve the unprecedented crisis in Kashmir.
In a press statement issued here today, Prof Soz, a former Member Parliament said, “ I feel a natural urge in me to make an earnest request to the leadership of the J&K’s mainstream parties- J&K National Conference, Pradesh Congress and PDP to please rise to the occasion at this critical juncture of our history, sit together and draw a consensus on what needs to be done by the main actors to resolve the unprecedented crisis in Kashmir.”
The former PCC president further said, “ I feel this consensus is needed at this moment as they should feel strong together to ask India, Pakistan and the Separatists to do what they ( J&K mainstream) feel to be an imperative.”
Soz said these political parties have considerable strength in Kashmir and they can not be ignored. “ The consensus is needed to take a decisive position at this moment. It may not be easy to sit with the ruling faction of the Coalition, but, for the sake of Kashmir, that should be done necessarily,” Prof Soz maintained.
