JAMMU, June 19: SOS International, an organization of displaced persons from PoK, has accused the State authorities of encroaching upon land of a refugee at Ajeet Nagar, Upper Gadigarh in Jammu.
Talking to media persons, here today, Chairman of the SOS International, Rajiv Chuni alleged that Jammu Municipal Corporation authorities illegally constructed a pacca lane on the private land of Gurdev Singh in Ajeet Nagar, which is outside the Municipal jurisdiction, on the direction of a Minister.
“After Gurdev Singh lodged his peaceful protest, he was arrested by police and detained for three days while family members of the victim were also threatened of dire consequences,” said Mr Chuni, who was accompanied by Gurdev Singh and latter’s family.
On the occasion, Mr Chuni also produced some official documents establishing that the area on which construction of pacca lane was made, does not fall under the jurisdiction of Jammu Municipal Corporation.
“A refugee has become victim of anti-socials, aided by the Minister, who is misusing his power in encroaching upon private land of a poor farmer,” Mr Chuni alleged and threatened to expose other such misdeeds of the politician in power.
