JAMMU, Feb 12: To give impetus to start cadaveric organ donation in GMC Jammu, State Organ & Tissue Transplant Organization SOTTO J&K organized a meeting with various stakeholder departments. The meeting was held in Super Speciality Hospital, Government Medical College Jammu chaired by Principal Dr Shashi Sudhan Sharma.
She emphasized the importance of collaboration between such departments to transport organ from donor hospital to recipient hospital within few hours for successful transplantation. She released Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) prepared by SOTTO J&K as per The Transplantation of Organs & Tissues Act, THOTA, 1994.
Dr. Elias Sharma, Professor & Head Urology department, who is Nodal Officer SOTTO J&K, explained the specific role of Nodal Officers of stakeholder departments for successful donation and transport of organs for transplantation.
It was interactive session amongst all the stakeholders parcipating from various departments and ensured their support for the cause.
The meeting was attended by Manisha, Assistant Commissioner (General), Jammu, Vikram Bhau, SDPO Bakshi Nagar, Satish Kumar, DySP(Traffic), Jammu, Surjeet Singh, NSP/Exe CISF(Airport Security) and Gautam Meena, CSO, Airport Authority of India.
