Sonia-Imam meet: Will take cognizance if receives complaint, says CEC

NEW DELHI, Apr 3: A day after Congress president Sonia  Gandhi met Shahi Imam and made a  special appeal to Muslims to  vote in a way to prevent the split of secular votes, Chief  Election Commissioner V S Sampath today said the Election  Commission will take cognizance if it receives complaint in this  regard.

“We will take cognizance if we receive complaint against Sonia Gandhi’s meeting with Shahi Imam,” said Mr Sampath.    Speaking in a meeting with Muslim delegation led by Jama Masjid Imam Syed Ahmed Bukhari yesterday, Ms Gandhi made an appeal to the minorities to not to divide secular vote bank.
