Som Nath highlights demands of workers during INTUC meet

UDHAMPUR, Jan 2: A meeting of Trade Union Congress (INTUC) was held here today under the chairmanship of senior leader Som Nath for discussing various issues of the employees and workers.
Addressing the meet, Som Nath highlighted the demands like release of  pending wages, holding of DPC, change of designation as per work, benefit of SRO 64 to the persons working  on consolidated basis   for the last 15 years, release of 10 percent DA, minimum wages to Mid Day Meal workers, enhancement of wages from Rs 125 to 350, etc.
Demanding that more workers should be engaged for smooth run of the projects, he said that each worker was presently performing the duty of 4-5 workers. He also demanded that the persons, who had donated land for construction of water tanks, be engaged as daily wagers in the PHE Department.
Som Nath also informed that these demands were also put forth before the Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Sharma during INTUC convention on December 29 and the latter assured a positive action very soon. State INTUC chief Shiv Kumar Sharma was guest of honour during the convention.
Others, who spoke on the occasion, included Vijay Kumar, Anil Gupta, Rattan Singh, Baldev Raj, Suraj Parkash, Mohinder Singh, Ali Hussain, Makhan Chand, Sardar Tej Bahadur, Charan Dass, Krishan Chand, Barket Ali, Sham Lal, Munshi Ram, Shambu Dutt, Shiv Lal, Janet Ali, Ved Parkash, Dhara Singh, Parvinder Manhas and  Ravi Singh Jaswal.
