RAJOURI, Sept 10: An Army jawan escaped after making rape attempt on a woman while she was working in her fields in Nowshera area last evening.
Police said that the jawan identified as Gourav Dutt, son of Romesh Lal of Jhangar has been booked vide FIR No. 169/2013. The incident took place when jawan and another minor boy were going on a bike in the same area. Gourav, a jawan of JAKLI, had come to his village on leave. He saw one Kuldip Kour working in fields at Lam Qila village. He stopped bike and seeing woman alone, tried to commit rape, the woman grappled with the jawan and made them to flee. She then took out the key of the bike and raised alarm. Both escaped leaving behind the bike.
Upon this, several villagers assembled there and reported the matter to police. The police registered a case and started search. The jawan said to have escaped to his unit at Kashmir and police was looking for him.
