Snatchers arrested within 24 hrs, stolen items recovered

JAMMU, July 7: Gandhi Nagar police under Operation Meghdoot arrested two snatchers and recovered stolen items from their possession.
As per police sources, a complaint was lodged by Harmeet Kour, daughter of Rajinder Singh of Nanak Nagar with Gandhi Nagar police station yesterday stating that two motor cycle borne boys snatched her purse containing cash, mobile phone, ATM cards and other items.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 116/17 under Section 382 and 323 RPC was registered at police station Gandhi Nagar and hunt was launched to nab the thieves.
During the course of investigation, two persons Rajan alias Raja, son of Ram Singh alias Shinda of Valmiki Colony Gandhi Nagar and Sahil Bhatti alias Chupa, son of Vijay Bhatti alias Khadapa of Narwal Pain Satwari were taken into custody on the basis of CCTV footage and clues from reliable sources.
During questioning, they broke down and confessed that they had committed the crime. On their disclosure, purse containing cash and mobile phone were recovered. Motorcycle bearing registration number JK02BG-2581 used in the commission of offence was also seized.
Further questioning of the accused is going on to ascertain their involvement in other theft cases.
Police team led by SHO Gandhi Nagar Inspector Ritesh Samyal and assisted by SI Javed Choudhary, PSI Vicky Thapa and ASI Mohammad Hanief made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas and SP South Sandeep Choudhary.
