Snapped mobile internet service restored in Jammu, Samba

JAMMU: The mobile internet service, which was snapped as a preventive measure in some of the districts across Jammu region sensing trouble, was restored here this evening.

Though the broadband internet remained functional throughout the day but mobile internet of all the telecom service providers, was suspended during wee hours today in view of some apprehensions of tension in Bari Brahmana area of Samba district over a land issue between two communities.       ”The mobile internet service was temporarily snapped early morning in view of a ‘dangal’ to be organised by the members of particular community on a land, which as per another community, belonged to them and used for religious congregations in Bari Brahmana area of Samba,” a senior official here said.

”Yes, we had snapped the mobile internet service but it got restored this evening,” Simrandeep Singh, Deputy Commissioner Jammu here told reporters. He asserted that the decision was taken by the administration, police and other agencies to prevent spreading of ”unwanted” rumours on social sites, which could lead to tension in the area. (AGENCIES)
