Only State subjects to be allowed to develop industrial estates, parks in J&K

SRINAGAR: Government today ordered modification of Industrial Policy 2016 under which only State subjects to be allowed to develop private industrial estates, industrial parks in the State.

The industrial policy 2016, announced during the Governor’s rule on March 15, 2016 evoked sharp reaction from separatist organizations who alleged that it was a conspiracy to change the demography of the State.

Yesterdays statement by Industries minister in the Legislative Council that more than 545 non-State subjects owned industries in the Jammu and Kashmir also evoked strong reaction by protests today. Chairmen of both the factions of the Hurriyat Conference (HC) have demanded immediate roll back of the new industrial policy.

An official spokesman said here this evening that Government today ordered modification of Industrial Policy-2016 with the deletion of controversial para 2.11.2 from the said policy. (AGENCIES)
