Sir,
I would like to draw the kind attention of the Minister for Health and concerned authorities towards non availability of efficient antidote for snake bite patients at GMC Jammu. A patient with a snake bite remains on the mercy of God even if he is admitted timely. Every year we hear the cases of deaths due to snake bites in Jammu and surrounding localities. It is quite common after the rainy season. The common cause of snakes found in houses is loss of natural habitats for snakes. Although now awareness is common among people about snake bites, many cases prove to be fatal even after reaching a hospital like GMC. There is a need of making available all effective anti-venom for snake bite treatment . People should also keep it in their mind that after a bite, victims should not move the affected limb or part unless they have to, keep the heart rate as low as possible until one reaches hospital and receives appropriate anti-venom treatment, ideally as quickly as possible. Hope the snake bite patients would be given better treatment.
Yours etc….
